Hyderabad, Sept. 7 -- Communist Party of India (CPI) National Secretary K Narayana today iterated that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) has been a burden on the common man and criticised the Centre for reducing GST slabs only because of the upcoming Bihar elections.
Speaking to the media here, he said comprehensive GST reforms are needed but pointed out that only the Prime Minister has the authority to alter decisions of the GST Council.
Reacting to the suspension of MLC K Kavitha, Narayana said her remarks indirectly admitted corruption in the Kaleshwaram project. He accused former Minister Harish Rao of distancing himself from her comments and demanded a thorough investigation into the project, which was built with public money.
