Hyderabad, Feb. 17 -- Communist Party of India (CPI) Telangana State Secretary and MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao on Tuesday said the people of the state were happy that the first Mayor of the newly formed Kothagudem Municipal Corporation belongs to the CPI, asserting that communism continues to remain relevant and strong.
Addressing a media conference at Makdoom Bhavan in Himayatnagar, he said the CPI had made a young and ordinary auto driver the Mayor of Kothagudem, reflecting the party's commitment to empowering common people.
He said a four-cornered contest was held in Kothagudem Corporation, where the CPI contested alone and emerged successful.
