Thiruvananthapurm, May 17 -- Opposition leader in Kerala Assembly VD Satheesan has alleged that CPI(M) leaders are insulting Mahatma Gandhi by opposing the construction of a memorial for him at Malappattam in Kannur.

"CPM leaders in Kannur are defaming Gandhi in a way that even shames the Sangh Parivar. CPM's P.V. Gopinath openly threatened to block a Gandhi memorial at Malappattam. Police must take action against the CPM leader. The memorial will be built," the Opposition leader said in a message.
