Hyderabad, June 9 -- The CPI(M) Telangana State Committee strongly opposed the recent hike in TGRTC bus pass fares for the general public and students, terming it a severe burden on the poor and daily commuters.
In a statement issued by State Secretary John Wesley on Monday, the party condemned the state government and TGSRTC for increasing bus pass rates by over 20 percent, resulting in an additional monthly expense of Rs. 250 to 300 for passengers in Greater Hyderabad.
"The government's decision is unjustified, especially when it is promoting free bus travel under the 'Mahalaxmi' scheme on one hand, while imposing higher charges on regular commuters on the other," Wesley said.
