Hyderabad, Oct. 5 -- The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Telangana State Committee has strongly opposed the state government's decision to hike RTC fares in Hyderabad and Secunderabad, demanding that the increased charges be withdrawn immediately.

As per the new fares, passengers will have to pay an additional Rs 5 for the first three stages and Rs 10 for the fourth stage.

In a statement here on Sunday, CPI(M) State Secretary John Wesley termed the decision "unreasonable," pointing out that the government was burdening the public under the pretext of spending Rs 392 crore on new depots and charging stations.
