Hyderabad, Feb. 5 -- The CPI(M) Telangana State Committee on Thursday demanded that 20 to 30 per cent of the state budget and at least 10 per cent of the Central budget be allocated to the education sector to prevent its corporatisation and ensure quality public education.
The party extended full support to the round table meeting organised by the MV Foundation on issues affecting the education sector.
In a statement, CPI(M) State Secretary John Wesley said inadequate funding has led to the closure of government educational institutions due to poor infrastructure, lack of sanitation facilities and shortage of teachers, forcing ordinary families to spend heavily on private education.
