Kolhapur, Feb. 21 -- Communist Party of India (CPI) general secretary and former MP, D Raja, on Wednesday criticised BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and called for their defeat in upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing a press conference here this afternoon, he said, "Democracy, Republic and Constitution are under threat in the country, therefore our first objective will be to defeat the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP)."

Continuing his attack, he claimed that "no real development has taken place during Modi's rule of last nine years. Therefore, we challenged him to talk on burning issues related to people's life and death."
