Alappuzha, Oct. 27 -- The rift within Kerala's ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) has widened with the Communist Party of India (CPI) hardening its stand on the PM SHRI scheme.
Underscoring the growing strain between the coalition partners, CPI ministers are expected to boycott Wednesday's Cabinet meeting.
The CPI has refused to accede to the Kerala government's signing of an MoU with the union Education Ministry last week to implement the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India or PM SHRI scheme, under which it will get funds to upgrade schools.
Despite Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's conciliatory meeting with CPI State Secretary Binoy Viswam at the Alappuzha Guest House, the party appears unlikely to compromise on its position.
