Alappuzha, Oct. 27 -- The Communist Party of India (CPI) has hardened its stand on the PM SHRI scheme, deepening the rift within Kerala's ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF).

Despite Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's conciliatory meeting with CPI State Secretary Binoy Viswam at the Alappuzha Guest House, the party appears unlikely to compromise on its position.

Ministers K. Rajan, G.R. Anil, and P. Prasad met the Chief Minister after his hour-long discussion with Binoy Viswam, but the talks failed to produce any consensus.

The CPI leadership later reiterated that the party would remain firm and review the matter further at its state executive meeting scheduled for November 4.
