Patna, June 6 -- Suspecting massive administrative loot of funds in the name of flood in Bihar, the Communist Party of India (CPI) demanded the Centre find a permanent solution to the annual menace, saying the state can progress and fetch major investments only after effective solution to the problem.

CPI state secretary Ramnaresh Pandey told media on Friday that 22 districts of the state face the tragedy of floods every year. Crops worth crores of rupees get damaged and hundreds of people lose their lives. During the last 20 years of Nitish Kumar's tenure, more than 2,500 people died due to floods, he said.

Even after such a huge loss, the Modi government has yet not announced any project for a permanent solution to the problem.
