Patna, Dec. 24 -- The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Wednesday said that changing the name of MGNREGA to Viksit Bharat: Rozgar aur Aajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM JI) is a conspiracy against the rights of rural and farm workers.
Speaking at a meeting of the Bihar State Khet Mazdoor union (BKMU) State Council in Patna, CPI state secretary Ramnaresh Pandey alleged that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre is repeatedly attacking the rights of workers.
He said MGNREGA is an important scheme for the poor, and renaming it is an attempt to weaken their rights.
Pandey also accused the NDA government of Bihar of running an "anti-poor campaign".
