Thiruvananthapuram, March 18 -- CPI State Secretary Binoy Viswam has called for an extension of the deadline for filing nomination papers for the upcoming 2026 Kerala Legislative Assembly elections, citing a shortage of effective working days.
According to the election schedule, March 23 is the last date for submitting nomination papers.
However, Viswam pointed out that March 20 is a public holiday on account of Eid al-Fitr, while March 22 falls on a Sunday. As a result, candidates are left with fewer working days to complete the nomination process.
