Imphal, Sept. 9 -- The Manipur State Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) today welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposed visit to Manipur on September 13, describing it as a "pyrrhic victory" for the people and the state's body politic.
In a statement issued by the party's state secretary Kshetrimayum Santa, the CPI(M) said that despite having only a few hours' duration, the visit is a welcome development as it comes after 28 months of continuous appeals by political parties and civil society organisations urging the Prime Minister either to visit Manipur or to hold a meeting in Delhi with an all-party delegation to discuss a peaceful resolution to the ongoing ethnic conflict.
