Varanasi, April 30 -- Jyotish Peethadheeshwar Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati presented mementos and certificates to the winning participants of the Cow Guard Competition at a ceremony held at Sri Vidyamath on Thursday.
On this occasion, he said that cows were at the root of the births of Lord Rama and Lord Sri Krishna.
The Shri Gurukulam Trust organized a Cow Guard Competition in schools across Varanasi district with the aim of granting the cow the status of Mother of the Nation and Mother of the State, completely banning cow slaughter in India, and raising public awareness for the protection of cows.
Students from grades 3 to 12 participated in this competition.
