Mumbai, July 28 -- A magistrate court here today nullified the non-bailable warrant issued against Maharashtra Fisheries Minister and BJP legislator Nitesh Rane in a defamation lawsuit filed by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut.
Judicial Magistrate First Class A.A. Kulkarni of Mazgaon court revoked the warrant on the condition that Rane personally appears before the court on Tuesday (tomorrow) to formally respond to the allegations.
The relief comes after repeated bench warrants were issued against the minister for failing to attend prior hearings.
In June, the court had rejected Rane's request for permanent exemption from physical appearances before the bench, subsequently issuing the non-bailable warrant following his absence.
