Bengaluru, July 5 -- Veteran actor Kamal Haasan has been legally restrained from making any further comments perceived as derogatory towards the Kannada language or culture. The order comes a month after his controversial statement sparked backlash and led to the ban of his film 'Thug Life' in Karnataka.

An ex parte interim injunction was passed yesterday by an additional city civil and sessions court in Bengaluru. The ruling came in response to a civil suit filed by Mahesh Joshi, president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP), who accused Haasan of making defamatory remarks during a promotional event.
