Shimla, Feb. 28 -- Himachal Pradesh High Court has restrained the State government from collecting electricity duty beyond 16.5 per cent from medium and large industrial consumers, observing that the steep enhancement appears prima facie contrary to statutory provisions.

In the order passed (CWP No. 2102 of 2026, titled M/s Verma Stone Crusher vs. HP division bench comprising Justice Vivek Singh Thakur and Justice Ranjan Sharma took note of the petitioner's grievance regarding electricity duty.
