Hubballi, Aug. 4 -- In a significant development in the Neha Hiremath murder case, the local court today rejected the bail application of the accused, citing non-compliance with arrest procedures under Section 50 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The case has now been posted to August 6, for scheduling of the trial proceedings.
The accused's legal team had argued that the arrest was not legally valid, as the police failed to provide a proper arrest memo or written reason for the arrest at the time of detention, a mandatory requirement under Section 50 CrPC and reinforced by Supreme Court rulings. On these technical grounds, they sought the accused's release on bail.
