Pune, Dec. 17 -- A court in Thane has recently passed an order regularising services of 2,285 contract workers in state power utility Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), after a protracted legal battle of 13 years.
With regard to the demand for regularisation of electricity contract workers in Mahavitaran, the Maharashtra Electricity Contract Workers Union, affiliated to the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, had approached the Bombay High Court in the year 2012 by filing a Writ Petition. However, the High Court transferred the matter to the Industrial Court, Thane.
Then, on 17 June, the court of Judge S. Z. Sonbhadre pronounced a historic award, said a press release issued by Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh today.
