Mangaluru, Dec. 29 -- The Beltangady court on Monday executed an arrest warrant against Mahesh Shetty Thimarody, president of the Rashtriya Hindu Jagarana Vedike (RHJV), for repeatedly failing to appear before the judiciary in a pending legal case.
Thimarody, a well-known social activist, had been summoned several times in connection with investigation conducted by the authorities, including those by a Special Investigation Team (SIT). His repeated non-appearance prompted the court to take strict action.
The arrest follows a complaint lodged against Thimarody after he delivered a controversial speech at a private programme in Indabettu, Beltangady taluk.
