Pune, July 1 -- Sessions Court judge AS Gandhi has rejected the bail application of Dattatreya Gade, accused in the alleged sexual assault case at Pune's Swargate bus stand. Gade is currently held in judicial custody at Yerwada Jail, a defense lawyer said today.
The defence counsel contended Gade's prior charges involved only theft and robbery, not sexual offences. He asserted the relationship with the victim was consensual and did not constitute coercion or rape. Opposing this, public prosecutor Ajay Misr and victim's representative Shreya Ole emphasized the act occurred without consent.
