Kannur, Nov. 15 -- The Thalassery POCSO fast track court on Saturday awarded life imprisonment to a school teacher and BJP local leader K Padmarajan (49) in the controversial Palathayi sexual abuse case involving a 10-year-old girl and fourth standard student in a school at Palathayi, near Panoor, in 2020.
Padmarajan is also sentenced to 40 years, (20 years each) in jail by two POCSO charges including under IPC sections 376 AB (rape of a girl under 12 years) and 376(2)(f)(ii) -- (rape by a person in a position of trust or authority).
The court announced that the imprisonment to be first considered for the first 20 years each under POCSO section and a fine of Rs 50,000 each.
