Mumbai, Dec. 3 -- Acting on directives from the Bombay High Court, the State Election Commission (SEC) has rescheduled the counting of votes for 264 municipal councils and nagar panchayats in Maharashtra to December 21.

Until then, district collectors have been instructed to deploy armed police at all EVM storage centres, appoint dedicated officers to oversee warehouse operations, and ensure surveillance at all times.

Candidates and their authorised representatives have also been permitted to maintain a round-the-clock vigil near the EVM storage facilities.
