Kolkata, Oct. 22 -- In a shocking incident, Coochbehar police superintendent (SP) Dyutiman Bhattacharya has been accused of lathi-charging women and children near his official bungalow in Coochbehar town allegedly for bursting firecrackers.
The incident, which took place in the Railghumti area of Ward No. 9 Monday night, has triggered outrage among local residents.
According to the complainants, several children, a woman, and a schoolteacher were assaulted by the SP himself when they were celebrating Diwali by bursting crackers close to his residence.
