Agartala, March 24 -- Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday claimed that the conviction rate over the past three years has significantly improved.

He informed in the ongoing session of assembly that to ensure the effective execution of the three criminal laws, the state government has decided to establish Deputy Director of Prosecution offices in all eight districts of Tripura.

He said that the total number of criminal cases registered in the state was 4,532 in 2022, which increased to 5,002 in 2023, before declining to 4,033 in 2024.

Among these, charge sheets were filed in 3,548 cases, while 892 cases were closed with a final report. Notably, 650 convictions were recorded, leading to the sentencing of 1,596 offenders over the ...
