Kolkata, Aug. 18 -- Police today detained Suman Biswas, convenor of the Platform for Protecting the Rights of Qualified Teachers and Staffers, hours before he was scheduled to lead a protest in front of the School Service Commission (SSC) office at New Town. The rally was called to demand the restoration of dismissed teachers in government-aided schools.
According to his younger brother, Sanjay Biswas, police first came to their home in Kodalia village, Chinsurah, Hooghly district, but not finding him there later picked him from Adisaptagram railway station while he was on his way to Kolkata.
