Shimla, Aug. 9 -- Leader of Opposition and ex- Chief Minister Jairam Thakur has expressed concern over the grim situation in Himachal Pradesh following heavy rainfall over the past 48 hours, which has severely disrupted normal life in most parts of the state.

He said today that the Chandigarh-Manali highway is closed at several locations, while the entire Kullu district is badly affected. Bilaspur has also suffered heavy losses.

Thakur pointed out that earlier spells of rain had already caused significant damage in Una and other regions, leaving a large section of the population facing hardships.

The latest downpour has worsened the situation, especially in tourist destinations where conditions have become more precarious.
