Lucknow, Nov. 24 -- President of the Tibetan Government-in-Exile, Pempa Tsering, today said that building large dams on rivers in Tibet will have long-term adverse effects on countries along their path.

At a lecture, titled 'Tibet Awareness Talk: Security and Environment' organised by the Department of Political Science, Lucknow University, at the AP Sen Hall, Tsering said, "Tibet is the source of Asia's major rivers, on which the livelihoods of nearly two billion people depend."Expressing concern over large-scale dam construction in Tibet, he said it will have long-term adverse effects on other countries as well.
