New Delhi, March 27 -- The Commission for Air Quality Management on Friday said civic authorities in Delhi-NCR will set up construction and demolition (C&D) waste collection points at every five sq km to curb dust pollution, a major contributor to the city's air quality crisis.
The directive will come into effect from April 1, 2026.
The announcement follows a February 20 order by the pollution watchdog mandating municipal bodies and development authorities to establish C&D waste collection and processing facilities under the Construction and Demolition Waste Management Rules, 2025.
Dust accounts for around 15% of Delhi's air pollution in winter and rises to nearly 27% during summer, according to official estimates.
