New Delhi, Aug. 25 -- The Supreme Court today clarified that the constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the matter concerning Vantara should not be construed as casting doubt on the functioning of statutory authorities or on Vantara itself.
A Bench comprising Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Prasanna B Varale stressed that it had not expressed any opinion on the merits of the allegations.
The Court underscored that the SIT's mandate was purely confined to fact-finding and not to adjudicate upon issues of liability or culpability.
