Raipur/ Narayanpur, Dec. 25 -- A constable posted at a security camp in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district died on Thursday after allegedly shooting himself with his service rifle while on duty, prompting an official investigation.
According to information released by the Narayanpur Superintendent of Police's office, the incident occurred in the early hours at Camp Kodnar under Kohkameta police station limits.
The constable, identified as Pingal Juri (Constable No. 428), reportedly fired at himself using his service rifle, sustaining a severe head injury that led to profuse bleeding. Fellow personnel immediately arranged to shift him to the district hospital in Narayanpur, but doctors declared him dead before arrival.
