Shimla, Feb. 7 -- With improvement in the weather conditions and restoration of the Darcha-Shinkula road, road connectivity between Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh via Zanskar and Kargil has been re-established. The strategic route had remained closed for nearly two weeks due to heavy snowfall, causing a complete disruption of vehicular traffic and affecting the movement of essential supplies and passengers.
Although the road has now been opened, snow is still accumulated on the Shinkula Pass. Officials said that around five to eight feet of snow is still lying on the road at several stretches.
