Imphal, March 1 -- Manipur Congress President K Meghachandra on Saturday welcomed the central government's decision to open the roads in Manipur from Mar 8 next.

Stating that it is a welcome step, the Congress leader asked why both the centre and the state governments ruled by BJP did not take any decision to open the roads for such a long time. He said for almost 21 months people of Manipur have been suffering.

Meghachandra said fencing works in ten kilometers were completed in the Manipur-Myanmar border ten years ago. He questioned the delay in fencing the international border.
