Chandigarh, Nov. 1 -- Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Friday issued a strong warning to the Centre over the reported proposal to dissolve the elected Senate and Syndicate of Panjab University, calling it an attempt to "saffronise" a historic academic institution.
In a statement, Warring said that replacing elected bodies with nominated members would amount to "hijacking" the university's democratic framework. He alleged that the move reflects the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) broader strategy to take control of premier educational and cultural institutions across the country.
