Hyderabad, July 14 -- Telangana BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar strongly defended the Congress government's decision to implement 42 per cent reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) across political, educational, and employment sectors.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, he accused the BJP of creating legal hurdles and spreading misinformation about the state government's move.

"As soon as the Congress came to power, we initiated a caste census using legal avenues and court directives," Prabhakar said.
