Congress to hold 'Save MGNREGA' campaign in Bihar from January 10 to February 25

Patna, Jan. 8 -- Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee president Rajesh Ram ON Thursday announced to launch a statewide protest campaign "Save MGNREGA Struggle" from January 10 to February 25 in Bihar.

The campaign is part of a nationwide movement against the Centre's new VB-GRAM-G Act, which the party says weakens the original spirit of MGNREGA.

Rajesh Ram told news persons after a meeting at the state Congress headquarters Sadaqat Ashram that the new law is a direct attack on MGNREGA, which provides guaranteed employment to rural poor families. He said MGNREGA is not just a government scheme but a legal right that supports the livelihood of crores of poor people, and it should not be weakened.
