Lucknow, April 21 -- The Congress party on Tuesday criticised the government over the proposed Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam (Women's Reservation Bill), questioning its intent and implementation.
Member of Parliament Praniti Shinde alleged that the ruling BJP's intentions regarding women's reservation are unclear.
She claimed that women were being used as a tool for political gain and accused the government of attempting to mislead the public in the name of the bill.
According to her, Congress has exposed what she described as the ruling party's strategy.
Shinde emphasised that Congress has historically supported women's empowerment, noting that it was the party that first introduced reservation for women in panchayats.
