Bhubaneswar, Sept. 22 -- Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy today rejected a notice for a no-confidence motion moved by the Congress and CPM against the BJP government, triggering a walkout by Congress members.
Protesting the Speaker's decision, Congress legislators staged a walkout and sat on a dharna near the Gandhi statue inside the Assembly premises.
All 14 Congress MLAs along with the lone CPM member had served the no-confidence notice on the opening day of the Monsoon Session on September 18.
For the past two days, they had been pressing for the motion to be admitted, protesting inside the House from their seats.
