New Delhi, Jan. 5 -- The Congress on Monday expressed "grave concern" over what it described as unilateral actions by the United States in Venezuela, warning that any military or coercive moves taken without the United Nation's sanction undermine international law and threaten global stability.
In a statement issued by its Foreign Affairs Department headed by Salman Khurshid, the Congress said the developments of the past 48 hours in Venezuela "transgress the settled principles of international law, as enshrined in the United Nations Charter and numerous international treaties."The party stressed that respect for national sovereignty and peaceful coexistence has been the cornerstone of the post-World War II rules-based world order.
