Lucknow, Sept. 20 -- The Congress party launched a scathing attack on BJP and the Narendra Modi led government over controversial remarks made by former BJP MP Subrat Pathak, accusing him of issuing threats against students and youth protesting to safeguard constitutional rights.

Addressing the media, Congress Rajya Sabha MP and Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Upper House, Pramod Tiwari, strongly condemned Pathak's alleged statement in which he suggested that youth "fighting for the Constitution" under the "Gen Z" banner should be "beaten up."Tiwari called the remarks "a dangerous assault on democratic and constitutional values" and said they reflect the frustration and political desperation of the BJP following electoral setbacks.
