New Delhi, Jan. 3 -- Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Saturday criticized the Modi government's "belated attempt" to regulate gig workers, terming it as "too little, too late" and said it falls short of the provisions made by Congress governments in Telangana, Rajasthan, and Karnataka.
The government has proposed establishing a welfare fund for gig workers, setting up a tripartite welfare board, and ensuring fair contracts and a safe work environment.
However, Ramesh argues that these measures don't go far enough.
"The Modi Government has belatedly woken up to the need to do so, but its vision is too little, too late," Ramesh tweeted.
