Lucknow, Dec. 12 -- With the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections scheduled for 2027, the Indian National Congress has intensified its preparations well in advance.
After a high-level meeting chaired recently by party president Mallikarjun Kharge and attended by Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, the party decided it would contest the 2026 Panchayat elections independently.
On Thursday, December 11, another key strategy meeting was held, attended by Wayanad MP and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, AICC general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal, UP Congress president Ajay Rai, and state in-charge Avinash Pande.
