Patna, April 4 -- With an aim to promote fair politics, Congress has decided not to field any candidate with a criminal background in the next assembly elections in Bihar.
Congress National President Ajay Kumar, a former IPS officer, told news persons here on Friday that the party would not give a chance to any person with a criminal background in the elections and would also pursue its alliance partners of the Grand Alliance not to give a ticket to any criminal in the election.
Kumar, who had served as an upright cop in the erstwhile Bihar, said that the crime increased by 323 percent in Bihar since Chief Minister Nitish Kumar came to power here in the year 2005.
