Hyderabad, Sept. 26 -- The Telangana Congress today observed the 130th birth anniversary of Veeranari Chakali Ailamma, a legendary fighter who inspired the Telangana peasant movement, at Gandhi Bhavan.
Telangana Sports and Animal Husbandry Minister Vakiti Srihari, along with Ailamma's descendants and senior Congress leaders, paid floral tributes to her portrait. The Minister also cut a cake with members of Ailamma's family to mark the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Srihari recalled Ailamma's fearless struggle against oppression, noting that she stood up to those who tried to suppress the poor and downtrodden.
