New Delhi, Feb. 16 -- Hours after the Congress party vehemently protested against freezing of its bank accounts by the Income Tax department, a Delhi bench of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) has allowed the grand old party to operate its accounts.

Senior lawyer and Rajya Sabha member from Congress Vivek Tankha announced about the defreezing of bank accounts and noted that certain facts were misconstrued by the Income Tax department.

He also informed that the next hearing by the ITAT will be on Wednesday (February 21).

"The court heard me for some time. I said we have very good case on facts. We had filed return on time. It is being misconstrued and only for that reason we cannot be punished disproportionately," Tankha said.
