New Delhi, Dec. 5 -- Congress MP Manish Tewari on Friday submitted an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha, calling for an immediate discussion on what he described as a "very urgent issue,"the significant fall in the value of the Indian rupee against the US dollar.
He highlighted that on 23 May 2014, the rupee was valued at Rs 58.54 per US dollar, whereas on 3 December 2025, it touched Rs 90.15, representing a depreciation of Rs 31.61 over eleven years. In another report, the rupee was noted to have hit Rs 90.43, marking a new low amid foreign fund outflows.
"On 23rd of May 2014, the value of the Indian rupee to the US dollar was rupees 58.54. On the 3rd of December 2025, the value of rupee to the US dollar touched 90.15," he wrote.
