New Delhi, Dec. 11 -- Congress MP Amarinder Singh Raja Warring Thursday sounded the alarm over the growing menace of gangster-terrorism in Punjab, alleging that the state government and police are turning a blind eye to the situation.

"There is an atmosphere of fear across the entire Punjab. People are receiving calls from abroad and from prisons, and ransom is being demanded. Those who refuse to pay are being murdered," Warring said in the Lok Sabha.

He cited the recent Ludhiana shooting incident, where two people were killed in broad daylight.

He alleged that the Shiromani Akali Dal has given a ticket to a gangster, who is now threatening sarpanches and bureaucrats.

"The situation is such that gangsters are now calling and threatening...
