Shillong, Aug. 28 -- In no mood to give up, the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee today moved a fresh disqualification petition against its four party legislators under the anti-defection law.
The four legislators - Dr. Celestine Lyngdoh, Ronnie Lyngdoh, Gabriel Wahlang and Charles Marngar - have defected to the National People's Party (NPP), which is leading the coalition Meghalaya Democratic Alliance.
In a petition submitted to Speaker Thomas Sangma, Congress Secretary Manuel Badwar said that the party sought the disqualification of the four legislators under Rule 6 of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly (Disqualification on Ground of Defection) Rules, 1988, read with paragraph 2(1)(a) of the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution.
