Hyderabad, Nov. 27 -- Telangana BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Thursday accused the Opposition of misleading the public on BC reservations and said the Congress government remains firmly committed to ensuring 42 per cent quota for backward classes in local body polls.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan this evening, Prabhakar said sarpanch elections are scheduled to be conducted in three phases and clarified that the government has fulfilled every legal requirement necessary to implement BC quota.

Yet, he alleged, parties that claim to champion BC rights are staying silent in court while the matter is under hearing.
