Koppal, Jan. 5 -- : Congress workers on Monday disrupted the foundation-laying ceremony of a railway overbridge project at Hitnal village in Koppal district, allegedly over protocol violations, forcing union Minister of State (MoS) for Railways and Jal Shakti V Somanna to leave the venue temporarily.
The protest escalated when some Congress workers hurled chairs towards the minister. The disruption was reportedly triggered by the omission of local representatives' names, including Koppal district in-charge Minister Shivaraj Thangadagi and Lok Sabha member Rajashekar Basavaraj Hitnal, from the event invitation and banners.
